Break and Fix Service Disclaimer
Last updated: January 7, 2026
Application of This Disclaimer
This Break and Fix Service Disclaimer applies to all non-contract, per-incident, or task-based services, including depot, onsite, and remote support, regardless of whether the customer also receives managed services from PCTECH under a separate Managed Services Agreement.
Where Break and Fix services are performed for a client who also receives managed services, this disclaimer applies specifically to the Break and Fix work performed and does not modify or expand the scope of any Managed Services Agreement. All applicable service terms and disclaimers may apply concurrently based on the services being performed at the time.
Scope of Services
Break and Fix services may include, but are not limited to, computer and laptop repair, hardware replacement and upgrades, custom and gaming computer troubleshooting and repair, printer and peripheral setup or repair, data transfer and system imaging, new computer setup and configuration, operating system installation or reinstallation, email and application configuration, network, WiFi, and firewall configuration, onsite, depot, and remote technical support, soldering and component-level electronic repair, and data recovery services, including third-party laboratory services.
Services are performed based on reported symptoms and observable conditions at the time of service. Intermittent or hidden faults may not be detectable during diagnostics.
No Guarantee of Repair Outcome
Electronic devices and storage media can fail unpredictably, including during normal handling, testing, software updates, or repair attempts.
PCTECH Computer Services Inc. does not guarantee that a device will remain operational after service, that existing issues will not worsen due to underlying failures, that additional failures will not occur after service, or that data will remain accessible or intact.
If a device becomes non-functional during service due to pre-existing defects, internal failures, corrosion, overheating, power irregularities, firmware issues, or component degradation, PCTECH Computer Services Inc. is not responsible for replacement of the device or recovery of lost functionality.
Data Responsibility and Backup
Clients are solely responsible for maintaining current backups of all data prior to service.
PCTECH Computer Services Inc. is not responsible for data loss, corrupted files, inaccessible storage devices, or operating system failures occurring before, during, or after service.
Data recovery services are provided on a best-effort basis and do not guarantee retrieval of all or any data.
Where third-party data recovery laboratories are used, PCTECH Computer Services Inc. is not responsible for outcomes, timelines, pricing, or data recovery success provided by those providers.
Encryption, BitLocker, and FileVault
Where client devices use full-disk encryption, including Microsoft BitLocker or Apple FileVault, access to data depends on valid passwords and recovery keys.
PCTECH Computer Services Inc. does not generate, store, recover, or guarantee access to encryption credentials unless explicitly agreed to in writing as part of a managed service offering.
If encryption credentials are lost, forgotten, corrupted, or otherwise unavailable, data on the encrypted device may be permanently unrecoverable.
Clients are solely responsible for securely storing all encryption recovery information.
Where encryption features are enabled or configured at the client’s request during setup, repair, or system configuration, the client remains responsible for recording and retaining all recovery information provided at the time of setup.
Passwords, Accounts, and Remote Access
Certain services require access to user accounts, operating systems, or online services.
Clients may be required to provide passwords or credentials to perform requested services.
Clients are advised to provide temporary passwords where possible and to change all passwords after service is completed.
PCTECH Computer Services Inc. is not responsible for unauthorized access resulting from credentials provided by the client, pre-existing compromise, malware, or external security conditions.
Where follow-up service may be required, PCTECH Computer Services Inc. may, with client knowledge and consent, install remote access software for support purposes. Remote access software may be removed by the client at any time.
PCTECH Computer Services Inc. is not responsible for misuse of remote access software resulting from third-party access, client configuration changes, malware, or external compromise.
Cloud Services and Online Accounts
Configuration of cloud services such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, hosted email, cloud storage, or backup services does not imply responsibility for account security, credential storage, data retention, service availability, or third-party outages.
Clients remain responsible for maintaining account access, password recovery methods, subscription status, and compliance with provider policies.
PCTECH Computer Services Inc. is not responsible for data loss, account lockouts, or service interruptions caused by third-party platforms.
Networking and Security Configuration
Network, WiFi, and firewall configuration services are performed based on current site conditions and device capabilities.
No one-time configuration can guarantee protection from cyber threats, unauthorized access, or future connectivity issues.
Security threats evolve continuously and cannot be fully prevented through one-time configuration services.
Soldering and Component-Level Repairs
Component-level and soldering services are limited to physical repair of identified connection points only.
PCTECH Computer Services Inc. does not guarantee functional restoration, electrical calibration, compliance with manufacturer specifications, or suitability for safety-critical or medical devices.
PCTECH Computer Services Inc. does not accept work intended to restore, certify, or validate medical devices, safety systems, or life-support equipment.
Clients are solely responsible for ensuring repaired devices are properly tested and certified by appropriate professionals before use.
Intake, Inventory, and Disputed Items
Only items physically presented and documented at intake are considered accepted into custody.
PCTECH Computer Services Inc. is not responsible for accessories, components, cables, or media not documented at intake.
Claims regarding missing items must be reported immediately upon pickup of equipment.
Claims made after equipment has left the premises may not be verifiable.
Premises, Surveillance, and Personal Safety
Clients entering PCTECH Computer Services Inc. premises do so at their own risk and are responsible for exercising reasonable care for their personal safety.
PCTECH Computer Services Inc. premises are monitored by continuous video surveillance for security, safety, and loss prevention purposes.
By entering the premises, clients acknowledge and consent to video recording in public and service areas.
PCTECH Computer Services Inc. is not responsible for injuries not caused by proven negligence of staff.
Right to Refuse Service
PCTECH Computer Services Inc. reserves the right to refuse, suspend, or terminate service at its sole discretion, including situations involving abusive or threatening behavior, unsafe equipment, suspected unlawful activity, or refusal to comply with staff instructions.
Refusal of service does not obligate PCTECH Computer Services Inc. to provide continued diagnostics or repair beyond reasonable return of property.
Relationship to Other Agreements
This Break and Fix Service Disclaimer applies to all Break and Fix, depot, and task-based services, including when such services are provided to clients who also maintain a Managed Services Agreement. Services provided under a Managed Services Agreement are governed by the scope and obligations stated in that agreement. This Disclaimer applies specifically to Break and Fix work and does not modify or expand the scope of any Managed Services Agreement. All applicable service terms and disclaimers may apply concurrently depending on the services being performed.
